Tutorials?

Hi, I'm new to the PanoSalado. The example is pretty impressive, I'm not exactly sure how they were able to precisely line up the photos. That way Front, Right, Left... all lined up properly. Is there a tutorial any where that explains how to show these?

Thanks,

Matthew

re: Tutorials? (creating cube face images)

Hmmm... There could be a much larger answer than you were anticipating for that question. Wink

A good start is over at the PanoTools wiki, or at the IVRPA's list of links and/or forum.

At the most basic: you shoot a bunch of overlapping photos; stitch the photos together to create a seamless 360° image; export the image to an equirectangular and then export (remap) to a set of cube faces. Easy! Wink

I think the real trick is

ok thanks... I'll start there.

absolute beginner to flash pano

Hi,

I'm new to using flash panos. Actually I just started reading today. I can make 360 spherical panoramas I use PTgui and pano2vr. How do I get started using pano salado? I downloaded the source but all I saw are action script files and I'm not sure what to do with them. If I had an equirectangular image how do I load it into the pano salado? how do I make the swf file? I looked into the tutorials section and read about the xml, and I seem to have understood it well. I guess what I'm looking for is a basic example starting from equirectangular image file. Could anyone please help me?

Thanks,
Milo

re: absolute beginner to flash pano

Hi Milo:

PanoSalado does have a learning curve -- to use it, you should have fairly good Actionscript skills.

A good place to start, if you want to be hands on, is looking thru the PanoSalado forums here for the XML examples.

Another good place (PanoSalado's new home!) is at http://panosalado.com . There you can find the new GUI SpinControl:VR -- which makes it very easy to create virtual tours which use PanoSalado.

Cheers,

Patrick

Ok. So I'm going to study action script then. I now programming java,c#, javascript so I assume it'd be similar. Thanks for the reply!

No worries!

Yah, if you're programming in those languages, then Actionscript and MXML are going to be a snap for you.

There's also an API for PanoSalado, now, which will be helpful to you.
