PanoSalado updates (rev 93)Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on PanoSalado! PanoSalado is proving fairly popular, considering there were > 700 downloads in less than a month. Nice! Download counts now top 809, and we're up to revision 93...
Getting and Compiling PanoSalado SourceWell, it is probably high time that I write a mini tutorial on getting and compiling PanoSalado's source code: First to get it: Google "SVN client" and pick a SVN client you like, there are a wide variety available, from the basic command line binaries to GUI apps. (On OS X, I like svnX, and if someones got a rec for Win and *Nix, I'll update this).
PanoSalado now supports QTVR panoramas!QTVR support in PanoSalado is based on the original qtparser php script (thanks go to Erik Krause (who wrote qtkrparser.php), Klaus Reinfeld, Aldo Hoeben, Thomas Rauscher, Ingemar Bergmark, and Joost Nieuwenhuijse).
PanoSalado updates become part of Papervision core source code...How's that for cool? While working on PanoSalado, Zephyr made some deep modifications to some of the "precise rendering" portions of the Papervision core code. Z submitted them to the Papervision team for inclusion in one of their next revs of the Papervision engine, and lo-and-behold the mods made it in! (of course they made it in...
PanoSalado: Many updates, being dogfooded, GoogleCode repositoryHi there: PanoSalado (the open source Flash panorama player/viewer) has been through some major changes! Zephyr and Patrick have been pounding madly at the keyboard, putting PanoSalado through its paces. PanoSalado is now being dogfooded... You can see a live, public example over at Patrick's site. The image quality and performance match or better the quality of any of the commercial Flash panorama viewers out there, so we think it's worth a look. Enjoy! This example currently uses four .swf files to
PanoSalado: autorotator, cursors, interface, etcWell, it is just about time for an update to PanoSalado. I've made a few significant changes to the architecture, implemented the autorotator, and coded a "first-draft" implementation of custom cursors.
PanoSalado Wiggle, Shimmer, and FPSAfter some feedback, I've played with the demo settings for wiggle (image distortion) and shimmer (jagged pixelation). There is significantly less wiggle with these new settings. Shimmer has always been acceptable.
PanoSalado Progress!PanoSalado is making progress! I just added interface buttons. So now the demo has a fullscreen button, and pan/tilt/zoom buttons. And to complement the buttons (they look nice and all, but I wanted them to actually do something) I wrote in a couple of functions to spoof key down and up events, so now you can spoof keyboard interaction from an event command in the XML. I suppose I could write a function to spoof click and drag movement also.... The only "standard" panoramic interface button that is not currently working is the autorotator, which just needs a little more work. This is starting to look like a real engine!
